Financial Accountant
Location: Basingstoke
Shifts: 08:00 - 17:00
Pay Rate: Financial Accountant II: £26.44 - £31.25 per hour. Financial Accountant III / IV: £33.65 - £38.46 per hour.
The business is going through a major divestiture and separation programme, moving from its current operating model to a new standalone organisation. This includes setting up a new legal and finance structure, including holding companies, BidCos, operating entities and any other companies required within the new Group.
To support this transition, finance processes, reporting structures, systems, opening balance sheets, intercompany arrangements and financial controls need to be established and stabilised.
An experienced Finance and Accounting team is required to provide additional support during the period between separation and the full implementation of the future-state Finance function. The team will help ensure that day-to-day accounting and reporting continue smoothly while supporting the set-up of the new organisation.
This is not intended to be a traditional finance team with permanent ownership of specific processes. Instead, the team will provide flexible support, helping to establish new entities, resolve issues, identify risks and support accounting activities until the new organisation is fully operational.
Key Responsibilities
The team may be required to support with:
- Accounting set-up and ongoing accounting for holding companies, BidCos and newly established entities.
- Creation of new charts of accounts, ledgers, reporting structures and finance processes.
- Preparation and validation of opening balance sheets and transferred balances.
- Accounting for investments, equity, debt, funding, interest, dividends, intercompany funding and corporate costs.
- Establishing and reconciling intercompany balances across the Group.
- Divestiture and separation accounting, including required transaction entries.
- General ledger mapping between legacy and new systems.
- Set-up and validation of payroll, lease, AP, AR and other finance system interfaces.
- Journal processing, consolidations and Group reporting.
- Balance sheet reconciliations and substantiation to support the developing finance operating model.
- Review and validation of NEB reporting.
- Support with finance projects, testing, cutover activities and hypercare.
- Identifying and resolving gaps, risks and issues arising from the separation and transition process.
The team will work closely with Finance, Tax, Treasury, project teams, systems teams, external providers and other business stakeholders. They will be expected to challenge assumptions, identify risks and proactively drive issues through to resolution.
