Arborist Team Leader / Vegetation Management Team Leader

📍 Location: Polegate, East Sussex or Maidstone, Kent

💷 Pay: £125 - £150 per day (DOE)

⏰ Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm (9.5-hour days)

Overtime Opportunities

1.5x pay for evenings and Saturdays

✅ 2x pay for Sundays

Essential Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must hold:

✔ CS30 & CS31 - Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-Cutting & Tree Felling

✔ SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)

✔ CSCS Card

✔ Chipper Qualification

Desirable Qualifications

⭐ IPAF / MEWP

⭐ Additional vegetation management or arboriculture qualifications

We are looking for an experienced Team Leader to oversee vegetation management and arboricultural operations.

You'll be responsible for planning and delivering daily work activities, supervising operatives, liaising with clients and ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently and on time.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Site Supervision

  • Lead and supervise site teams on a day-to-day basis.
  • Deliver daily briefings to staff and visitors.
  • Allocate work effectively based on skills and experience.
  • Monitor productivity and quality of work.
  • Mentor and support team members to maintain high performance standards.
  • Lead by example in safety, professionalism and work ethic.

Health & Safety

  • Take responsibility for site safety and safe systems of work.
  • Complete and review daily risk assessments.
  • Ensure all staff understand emergency procedures and rescue plans.
  • Communicate and document any changes to site risk assessments.
  • Investigate and report incidents, hazards and near misses.
  • Attend Safety Forums and implement improvements within the team.

Site Planning & Organisation

  • Plan daily work programmes and resource allocation.
  • Ensure work is completed to programme and required standards.
  • Manage working time and breaks effectively.
  • Escalate operational issues to senior management when required.

Client Communication

  • Act as the primary point of contact for site-based clients.
  • Maintain professional communication at all times.
  • Resolve site issues promptly and effectively.
  • Ensure client expectations are consistently met or exceeded.

Administration & Compliance

  • Complete site administration accurately and on time.
  • Maintain vehicle inspections and pre-use checks.
  • Complete site timesheets, allocation sheets and risk assessments.
  • Submit incident reports and compliance records via Procore.

Equipment & Maintenance

  • Ensure tools, plant and machinery are maintained and inspected.
  • Raise maintenance requests through Procore.
  • Carry out basic repairs where appropriate.
  • Report defects promptly to minimise operational downtime.

Problem Solving

  • Identify and resolve site issues proactively.
  • Document decisions and actions appropriately.
  • Escalate complex issues when necessary.
  • Minimise disruption to programmes and client requirements.
