Construction Plant Fitter

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Construction Plant Fitter to join our growing team in Portadown. This role is ideal for candidates who have completed a Construction Plant Fitter Apprenticeship or possess an equivalent recognised trade qualification.
Applications are welcomed from recently qualified candidates, those nearing completion of their apprenticeship, and experienced technicians from related industries such as agricultural machinery, HGV, or marine engineering.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of construction plant machinery and equipment.
Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic faults.
Maintain and repair engines, transmissions, axles, hydraulic systems, fuel systems, brake systems, and steering systems.
Work with modern electrical and electronic systems including ECUs and CAN Bus technology.
Conduct machinery testing, commissioning, and pre-delivery inspections.
Respond efficiently to equipment breakdowns and ensure machinery is returned to service promptly and safely.
Accurately complete job documentation and update records using the company's ERP system.
Identify and report additional repair requirements and equipment faults to management.
Maintain excellent customer relationships and represent the company professionally at all times.
Participate fully in manufacturer and company training programmes to develop technical skills and broaden competencies.
Adhere to all company Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

Successfully completed a Construction Plant Fitter Apprenticeship or hold an equivalent recognised mechanical trade qualification.
Full Clean Driving Licence.
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
Good IT and computer literacy skills.
Effective communication and report-writing abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage workloads with minimal supervision.
Strong commitment to quality, safety, and professional workmanship.
Positive attitude, reliability, and strong teamwork skills.
Existing authorisation to live and work in Northern Ireland and/or the Republic of Ireland.
Fluent English.

Desirable

Experience within the construction plant, agricultural machinery, HGV, or marine engineering sectors.
Category BE (Trailer) Driving Licence.
Previous experience servicing and maintaining heavy machinery and equipment.

Physical Requirements

The successful candidate must be capable of carrying out the physical duties associated with servicing and repairing heavy plant equipment while following company Health & Safety standards.
