CPCS Machine Operator (Excavator, Dumper & Tractor)

Location: Polegate, East Sussex or Maidstone, Kent
Salary: £121 - £130 per day (DOE)
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm (9.5-hour day)
Overtime: 1.5x evenings & Saturdays | 2x Sundays

Essential Qualifications

• CSCS Card
• CPCS Plant Operator Card (10T+)
• Experience operating Excavators, Dumpers and Tractors
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Good understanding of site Health & Safety requirements

Desirable Qualifications

• SSSTS
• NRSWA / NUSR
• Additional plant tickets and machinery certifications
• First Aid at Work

The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced CPCS Machine Operators to support a range of infrastructure, vegetation management and site clearance projects across the South East.

Operating a variety of machinery including Excavators, Dumpers, Tractors and Ufkes equipment, you'll play a key role in delivering projects safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team with regular overtime opportunities and ongoing training.

Key Responsibilities

Plant & Machinery Operation

• Safely operate excavators, dumpers, tractors and specialist plant machinery.
• Ensure machinery is used efficiently and in line with site requirements.
• Follow Team Leader instructions and complete works to agreed timescales and quality standards.

Machine Maintenance & Inspection

• Carry out daily pre-start checks and inspections.
• Complete routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Report defects and coordinate repairs through the appropriate channels.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing and repairs using Procore.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Comply with all company Health & Safety procedures and site rules.
• Complete daily risk assessments and equipment checks.
• Wear and maintain appropriate PPE.
• Identify hazards, report near misses and promote safe working practices.
• Ensure work areas are safe, tidy and appropriately signed and barriered.
• Participate in toolbox talks, safety forums and refresher training.
• Comply with monitoring requirements including Reactec systems where applicable.

Site Documentation & Reporting

• Complete required site paperwork and digital records using Procore.
• Ensure records are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
• Escalate issues to the Team Leader or Supervisor when required.

Teamwork & Support

• Support and mentor newer operatives where appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors and clients.
• Promote a positive safety culture and lead by example.

Customer & Community Awareness

• Represent the company professionally at all times.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers and members of the public.
• Escalate customer concerns or complaints through the appropriate channels.
