Manpower are currently seeking an interim Admin Officer, to work with The Leverhulme Trust, an independent charity that was established in 1925 under the terms of the Will of the Founder of Lever Brothers - the global FMCG company that is today Unilever.
The position is based close to Fleet Street in the city area of Central London. This is a full-time temporary role to start last week Aug/1st week Sept 2026 for 18 Months, requiring 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £40,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.
The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.

The Role
The Administrative Officer provides administrative support in managing and processing grant applications and current awards. Tasks will be varied, including answering questions from academics and universities about the Trust schemes and from grant holders about their awards; chasing and checking that required documentation has been received on time; validating grant applications and preparing papers for panels. The Trust is in the process of implementing a new grant management system and is looking for extra resource during this period of change.
Responsibilities
- Undertaking accurate and timely grant administration
- Helping with the administration of grant applications, including validating and processing applications and notifying grant applicants of outcomes.
- Assisting with the administration of current awards, ensuring grant holders meet financial conditions relating to grants, checking CVs and salaries of proposed researchers and approving appointments, checking budgets are adhered to and making sure progress reports and statements of expenditure are received in on time.
- Dealing efficiently with enquiries received from academics and university research and finance office staff regarding current grants and ensuring all queries are resolved promptly.
- Accurately and efficiently entering information on the Trust's grants management system, chasing documentation as required and checking reports and documents submitted to the Trust.
- Ensuring completed awards are closed and archived.
- Assisting with other administrative duties as and when necessary.
Communication
- The post holder must be able to communicate courteously and effectively with individuals at all levels, including all Leverhulme Trust staff.
- The role involves daily contact with the academic community and research staff through incoming email and telephone queries.

- You have a degree.
- You must be well organised and have the ability to build key relationships with internal and external customers.
- Computer literacy, including proficiency with Word and Excel, is an essential requirement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
- You should also be able to demonstrate good organisational skills and have the attention to detail necessary to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- It would be desirable if you have proven experience of working in and across teams and, ideally, with a background in grant-making and grant administration.
