Electrical Technician | West Midlands (Birmingham) | £31,236-£34,610 + £2k Uplift + Standby + Pension
The Opportunity
We're partnering with a large, multi-site organisation operating a complex and highly active estate in the West Midlands. This is a back fill role within an established maintenance team, offering the chance to work across a diverse range of buildings and systems.
It's an ideal opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technician who enjoys a varied, hands-on environment, balancing reactive fault finding with planned maintenance in a setting where no two days look the same.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you'll take ownership of electrical maintenance across a busy operational estate. Day-to-day this will include:
- Responding to reactive maintenance issues, diagnosing and resolving faults across power, lighting, alarms and associated systems
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and statutory testing (including emergency lighting, fire alarms and electrical inspections)
- Managing your own workload, prioritising jobs based on urgency and operational impact
- Supporting minor installation and upgrade works, including small power projects and refurbishments
You'll also play a key role in maintaining compliance standards across the estate, contributing to a safe and efficient operational environment.
What's On Offer
- Salary: £31,236 - £34,610 depending on experience
- £2,000 market supplement (paid monthly)
- Standby allowance: ~£2,400 (1 in 4 rota)
- Overtime paid at 1.5x (Mon-Sat) and 2x (Sun)
- 25 days holiday + bank holidays (typical public sector offering)
- Pension: 6.1% employee / 14.5% employer
- Stable, long-term position within a well-structured team
What We're Looking For
The right candidate will bring experience working in a maintenance or building services environment, ideally across a large or complex site. You'll be confident fault finding under pressure and managing your own workload effectively.
You'll need:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation/Maintenance
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (C&G 2382)
- Inspection & Testing (2395 or equivalent)
- Proven experience in electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis
Additional certifications (e.g. fire alarms, HV/LV, IPAF/PASMA) would be beneficial but aren't essential if you can demonstrate strong hands-on experience.
