Job Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with UK legislation and industry standards.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide expert advice and support to management and staff on all EHS matters, fostering a culture of safety and environmental awareness.
  • Coordinate and deliver EHS training programmes to ensure all employees are informed of best practices and legal requirements.
  • Monitor and report on EHS performance metrics, preparing detailed reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures to minimise future risks.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and industry best practices related to EHS.
  • Assist with environmental permits, audits, and compliance documentation to ensure ongoing adherence to environmental regulations.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact and enhancing workplace safety.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health and safety certification.
  • Strong understanding of UK health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Technical proficiency in risk assessment, incident investigation, and EHS management systems.
  • Ability to analyse data, prepare reports, and present findings clearly and confidently.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Relevant environmental qualifications or experience in environmental management systems (EMS) is desirable.
