Maintenance Engineer
Glasgow
Immediate start
£20 per hour

The Role

  • Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM)
  • Respond promptly to queries and carry out fault diagnosis and repairs
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and technical documentation
  • Support installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment and systems
  • Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability
  • Conduct inspections to identify potential issues before failures occur
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and company policies
  • Participate in continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives
  • Assist with contractor management and oversee external maintenance activities
  • Provide technical support and training to operators and junior technicians


Skills & Experience
Essential

  • Relevant engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Multi-skilled Engineering)
  • Experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing, industrial, utilities, or facilities environment
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Competent in the use of CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems)

Desirable

  • HNC/HND, Degree, Apprenticeship, or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Experience with PLCs, automation, robotics, or control systems
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
  • Multi-skilled experience across mechanical and electrical disciplines
