Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Duration of assignment: 12 months

Hourly target rate: £55 per hour Inside IR35 (37 Hours per week)

Location: Bristol

Role Summary:

Our client works every day to invent the future of flight. You will be a part of a small, high-calibre team with a focus on developing the next generation of on-wing engine inspection technologies and automation solutions.

Key Activities:

  • Supporting the Mechanical Engineering, Quality and Production teams with a broad range of activities.
  • Communicating and working closely between small technical teams both in the office and workshop.
  • Creation and changes to technical documentation and reports.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Supporting in-house engineering, quality and production teams with various tasks such as, but not limited to:
    • 3D CAD design work and drawing creation (Autodesk Inventor).
    • Authoring and updating technical documentation such as SOPs, BoMs, QA and Build Instructions.
    • Component and system level testing including thermal and robotic apparatus.
    • Production Jig Design and Setup.
    • Root Cause analysis and troubleshooting support.
  • Continuously and effectively provide clear technical communication to all members of the team in the form of digital communications, reports and day-to-day conversation with a focus to maintain a friendly, cohesive and productive team environment.
  • Occasional travel within the UK to conduct product testing.
  • Clearly communicate technical functionality and requirements with those in non-mechanical and technical disciplines.
  • And other duties as may reasonably be required, consistent with the post and company needs.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Experience with CAD and technical drawings.
  • Experience in a production environment and familiarity with tooling and documentation.
  • Experience working in small, fast-moving engineering teams.
  • Experience with QA
  • Experience in engineering verification and validation.
  • Workshop experience, basic mechanical assembly and
  • Experience working in Agile and Lean-focused environments.

Desirable Skills:

  • 3D Printing experience (FDM / SLA)
  • Quality Engineering (CMM, Gauges, Metrology)
