Mechanical Marine Fitter

Looking for a hands-on mechanical role with real variety, where your skills make a visible difference on large ships and vessels? Our Client is hiring a time-served Mechanical Fitter to join a busy engineering team supporting essential work on vessel door systems-maintenance, repair and precise fitting.

What you'll be doing:
* Carry out maintenance, repairs, fitting, alignment and adjustment on large vessel doors and associated components
* Diagnose issues using fault-finding methods, then test and confirm proper operation
* Work on ship doors featuring hydraulic, tension-operated and mechanical systems
* Read and use engineering drawings to support accurate work and installations
* Support ongoing reliability by keeping components performing safely and efficiently while working away

What you'll bring:
* Time-served Mechanical Fitter experience with a strong mechanical fitting background
* Experience with hydraulics and/or pneumatics (tension-operated and hydraulic door systems)
* Comfort working with steelwork and mechanical components in a marine/ship environment
* A methodical approach to fault-finding, testing and ensuring systems are properly set up
* Pride in quality workmanship-finishing tasks accurately, not just quickly

Additional information:
* £300/day rate, inclusive of a £30 daily food allowance (CIS payment)
* Accommodation arranged for work away
* Option to travel down from site in Jarrow using your own vehicle, or commute yourself
