The Opportunity


We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established heavy engineering manufacturer operating within the casting and engineering sector.
As part of continued investment and growth, the company is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join its dedicated night shift maintenance team.
This position offers excellent stability, strong overtime opportunities and the chance to play a key role in maintaining critical manufacturing equipment across the site.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance activities
  • Diagnose and repair faults on hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems
  • Maintain gearboxes, bearings, cylinders, valves, pumps and rotating equipment
  • Perform welding, cutting, grinding and general fabrication work
  • Support TPM and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Minimise equipment downtime and improve plant performance
  • Support reliability and operational improvement projects

What We're Looking For


Candidates will ideally come from foundry, steel, heavy engineering, quarrying, aggregates, recycling, process manufacturing or similar industrial sectors.
You'll ideally have experience with:

  • Hydraulic systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Bearings and rotating equipment
  • Gearboxes and mechanical drives
  • Pumps and conveyors
  • Welding and fabrication work


You'll also possess:

  • Strong fault-finding skills
  • Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance
  • Basic electrical fault-finding ability
  • A proactive approach to health and safety
  • Excellent problem-solving skills


Foundry experience is advantageous but not essential.
Please note: This role is based within a heavy industrial manufacturing environment involving heat, dust, noise and large-scale machinery.
