Job Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating, including cleaning, sanding, filling, and scraping as required.
- Apply paint, wallpaper, and other decorative finishes to a high standard.
- Protect floors, furniture, and fixtures to prevent damage during works.
- Carry out minor repairs and touch-ups to ensure a consistent, professional finish.
- Work to specifications and follow site instructions to meet deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and safe working area throughout each job.
- Use tools and equipment correctly, ensuring they are kept in good condition.
- Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues to ensure expectations are met.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Painter/Decorator, with a strong eye for detail and finish quality.
- Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation methods, and finishing standards.
- Ability to work neatly and efficiently, with good time management on site.
- Competence with hand tools and decorating equipment (including rollers, brushes, and cutting-in tools).
- Experience with wallpaper hanging and/or decorative finishing is desirable.
- Sound understanding of health and safety practices on construction and domestic sites.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when working around customers.
- Full UK driving licence is beneficial (where travel between sites is required).
- Relevant qualifications (such as City & Guilds in Painting and Decorating) are advantageous.
- CSCS card (or willingness to obtain) is preferred for site-based work.
