Job Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting and decorating, including cleaning, sanding, filling, and scraping as required.
  • Apply paint, wallpaper, and other decorative finishes to a high standard.
  • Protect floors, furniture, and fixtures to prevent damage during works.
  • Carry out minor repairs and touch-ups to ensure a consistent, professional finish.
  • Work to specifications and follow site instructions to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area throughout each job.
  • Use tools and equipment correctly, ensuring they are kept in good condition.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and colleagues to ensure expectations are met.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Painter/Decorator, with a strong eye for detail and finish quality.
  • Knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation methods, and finishing standards.
  • Ability to work neatly and efficiently, with good time management on site.
  • Competence with hand tools and decorating equipment (including rollers, brushes, and cutting-in tools).
  • Experience with wallpaper hanging and/or decorative finishing is desirable.
  • Sound understanding of health and safety practices on construction and domestic sites.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when working around customers.
  • Full UK driving licence is beneficial (where travel between sites is required).
  • Relevant qualifications (such as City & Guilds in Painting and Decorating) are advantageous.
  • CSCS card (or willingness to obtain) is preferred for site-based work.
