ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Product Safety Engineer to join a multidisciplinary engineering team. This role offers the opportunity to influence product safety throughout the entire development lifecycle, from initial concept and design through qualification, production and customer support.

You will take ownership of safety engineering activities, working closely with technical specialists and stakeholders to ensure products meet stringent safety and regulatory requirements.

WHAT TO EXPECT

• Lead and facilitate hazard identification and risk assessment activities using recognised methodologies such as FMEA and FTA.
• Develop and maintain Product Safety Management Plans and safety-related development roadmaps.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing and project teams to implement effective risk reduction measures and ensure risks remain ALARP.
• Produce high-quality safety case reports that clearly demonstrate product safety and suitability for operational use.
• Act as the primary safety engineering focal point, communicating confidently with internal teams, customers and external stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience within a regulated, high-hazard industry such as Defence, Aerospace, Space, Automotive, Nuclear or similar.
• Experience producing safety case reports, safety management plans and applying hazard analysis techniques.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical risks clearly.
• Knowledge of industry safety standards, quality management systems or safety-critical product development would be advantageous.
