Manpower are currently seeking an interim Deductions Specialist with Amazon experience, to work with our global FMCG client, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey. This is a full-time temporary role to run for 6 months, requiring 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying up to £42,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

Role Purpose

Support the Amazon business by managing complex Amazon Order-to-Cash (O2C) deduction processes while acting as a key partner to the Amazon Customer Development team. The role focuses on the end-to-end Amazon deductions process, including reviewing invoice deductions, investigating claims, reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies. Working closely with Customer Development, Finance and Genpact, you will help drive improved cash recovery, operational excellence and continuous process improvement.

This is not a traditional Finance role. Whilst candidates from Finance backgrounds are welcome, the role would also suit candidates from Customer Operations or similar operational environments with strong hands-on experience of Amazon deductions.

Key Objectives

  • Cash & Deductions
  • Manage the end-to-end Amazon deductions process, reducing claim ageing and deduction balances.
  • Maximise recovery of invalid deductions and ensure timely validation, approval and closure of claims.
  • Improve collaboration with Customer Development to accelerate issue resolution.
  • Process Excellence
  • Standardise deduction and claims handling processes.
  • Implement SLAs and embed best practice across Customer Development and Genpact.
  • Drive process improvements to improve efficiency and reduce manual activity.
  • Commercial Alignment
  • Ensure deductions, trade terms and funding mechanisms are understood and correctly executed.
  • Provide regular reporting and insights to support accurate forecasting and decision making.
  • Identify trends and root causes behind recurring deductions.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Identify recurring operational issues linked to pricing, promotions, availability or execution.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to prevent future deductions and improve first-time-right performance.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end Amazon claim and deductions lifecycle, including invoice deductions, remittances, reconciliations, claim validation, approvals, dispute resolution and cash application.
  • Lead weekly deductions meetings and monthly performance reviews with senior stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between Customer Account Managers (CAMs), Customer Development and Genpact for promotional claims, pricing disputes, chargebacks, shortages and logistics claims.
  • Partner closely with the Amazon Customer Development team to understand commercial agreements and operational issues impacting deductions.
  • Review and validate promotional funding, trade investments and accruals.
  • Improve upfront clarity on trade terms to reduce future deductions.
  • Support the resolution of complex or high-value claims.
  • Produce regular reporting on deduction trends, root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Work closely with Finance to ensure alignment between deductions and financial reporting.
  • Support customer-facing preparations by validating data and investigating invoice-related discrepancies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve deduction processes and reduce manual intervention.
  • Establish and lead monthly operational governance meetings with Amazon AVS to review outstanding deductions and aged claims.

Skills & Experience

  • Amazon deductions experience is essential. Candidates must have previous hands-on experience managing Amazon deduction processes, either directly with Amazon or whilst supporting Amazon through a manufacturer, consultancy or agency environment.
  • A strong understanding of the end-to-end Amazon deductions process, including invoice deductions, remittances, reconciliations, claims management and discrepancy resolution.
  • Experience in O2C, Accounts Receivable, Customer Operations or similar operational functions.
  • SAP experience is essential.
  • Strong Excel skills, including analysing data, using formulas and maintaining trackers and reports.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives and implementing operational improvements.
  • Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident working cross-functionally with Customer Development, Finance, Credit Control and Genpact.
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to influence stakeholders and drive issues through to resolution.
