Manpower Recruitment are working with an established Restaurant in the Wallingford area and are looking for an experienced Assistant Restaurant Manager.
This role is a full time role, working 5/7 days, including weekends and evenings, so flexibility is needed.
The role is paying up to £34000pa, depending on experience. (Plus Tips)
Job Overview
The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, efficient service delivery, and strong team performance. This role is responsible for assisting in managing staff, maintaining high service standards, and driving commercial success through effective cost control and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service at all times.
- Lead by example on the floor, delivering outstanding customer service and handling guest feedback or complaints professionally.
- Supervise, train, and motivate front-of-house staff to maintain high performance and engagement levels.
- Assist with staff scheduling, rotas, and shift planning to ensure optimal coverage and labour cost control.
- Monitor service standards, cleanliness, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Support stock control processes, including ordering, inventory management, and minimising waste.
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, food safety regulations, and company policies.
- Assist in achieving financial targets by managing costs, increasing sales opportunities, and maximising profitability.
- Conduct team briefings and contribute to staff development, training, and performance reviews.
- Step into a leadership role in the absence of the Restaurant Manager.
Key Skills and Experience
- Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within a restaurant or hospitality environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Good understanding of restaurant operations, including service standards and compliance requirements.
- Financial awareness, including labour control, stock management, and cost efficiency.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions under pressure.
- Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications (Desirable)
- Hospitality Management qualification or equivalent experience.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or higher).
- Personal Licence Holder (advantageous).
