Job Responsibilities
- Set up and start injection moulding presses in accordance with production requirements.
- Operate start and stop procedures for injection moulding presses efficiently.
- Prepare tools and equipment ahead of scheduled tool changes to minimise downtime.
- Sling and lift tools using cranes safely and in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Present the first off part to the Quality Department for approval prior to full production.
- Adhere strictly to company quality standards and work procedures to ensure product integrity.
- Set up robot heads and load programmes to facilitate automated processes.
- Proactively communicate faults or issues, collaborating with tool-room and maintenance teams to support swift resolution, following company procedures.
- Accurately complete job packs before and during tool changes, recording deviations as necessary.
- Support troubleshooting efforts and contribute to process improvements as directed by the Process Engineer.
- Conduct safety checks, maintain housekeeping standards, and perform routine maintenance checks around machine areas.
- Participate in SMED activities to optimise changeover times and improve efficiency.
- Work towards and report on KPI targets related to tool change times and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Perform colour changes efficiently to meet production schedules.
- Support trialling of new robotics or moulding methods to enhance manufacturing processes.
- Assist with any additional projects or tasks assigned by management to support operational excellence.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience in injection moulding setting and operation is essential.
- Experience with robotics in manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Hold or be actively pursuing an NVQ Level 2 in Injection Moulding and Tool Setting; NVQ Level 3 is desirable.
- Possess an Overhead Crane Operation licence and demonstrate competence in the safe use of slings and lifting equipment.
- Strong understanding of quality standards and process control in a manufacturing setting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail, especially in documentation and reporting.
- Proactive approach to troubleshooting and process improvement initiatives.
