Workshop Team Leader / Workflow Specialist (Aircraft Wheels & Brakes)
If you enjoy turning workshop pace into predictable, high-quality output-and leading a team in an aviation-standard environment-this role could be your next step. You'll oversee daily workshop operations, drive turnaround performance, and ensure strict regulatory compliance across the Aircraft Wheels and Brakes workshop.
What you'll be doing:
* Plan daily and weekly workshop tasks based on incoming asset backlogs and customer priority
* Streamline workflow across cleaning, NDT, machining, inspection and final assembly
* Drive KPIs to reduce turnaround time (TAT) and maximize output
* Coordinate with stores to ensure parts, repair kits and consumables are available before production begins
* Supervise technicians and support staff-assigning tasks, motivating the team and maintaining strong performance
* Enforce EHS and 5S standards across the workshop
* Identify skill gaps, coordinate technical training, and support technician competency sign-offs
* Ensure flawless completion of digital/paper maintenance release tags, teardown reports and logbooks
* Verify all work aligns with current Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) and relevant airworthiness directives
* Oversee calibration tracking for specialised workshop tooling (e.g., torque wrenches and inflation cages)
* Support internal quality teams and external aviation authority audits
What you'll bring:
* 3-5 years of aviation MRO experience, ideally working on aircraft wheels, brakes or landing gear components
* 1-2 years' experience in a team leader, supervisor or production planning role (desirable)
* Strong working knowledge of EASA Part 145, FAA Part 145, or local CAA regulatory frameworks
* Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement to improve workshop efficiency
* Proficiency with aviation ERP/MRO systems (e.g., Quantum, AMOS, SAP) and Microsoft Excel
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise effectively with technicians and upper management
* Exceptional attention to detail and an uncompromising safety-and-quality mindset
* Ability to work in a manual workshop environment (including lifting heavy components and standing for extended periods)
