Field Service Engineer | West Midlands | £28,000-£35,000 + Company Van, Full Training & Pension
We're partnering with a well-established manufacturer of industrial lubricants and metalworking fluids that has been supporting the UK manufacturing sector for over 150 years. Due to continued growth and increasing demand for their technical support services, they're looking to appoint two Fluid Technicians to join their expanding service team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone from a service engineering, manufacturing, automotive or maintenance background looking to develop specialist technical expertise in a growing industry.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the Technical Service team, you'll provide on-site support to manufacturing customers across the West Midlands, helping them maintain optimal performance from their metalworking fluids and associated products.
Day-to-day this will include:
- Conducting routine testing and monitoring of metalworking fluids at customer sites
- Recording, analysing and reporting test results through a bespoke cloud-based software system
- Taking corrective action where required to maintain fluid performance and customer productivity
- Supporting fluid changeovers, product trials and CNC machine preparation activities
- Building strong working relationships with customers and acting as a trusted technical support contact
You'll also play a key role in supporting a major customer site in where you'll become closely integrated with the customer's operation and technical teams.
What's On Offer
- Salary: £28,000-£35,000 depending on experience
- Company van, laptop and mobile phone
- 40-hour working week, Monday to Friday days
- Travel generally included within working hours
- Flexible and supportive approach to working hours and customer commitments
- Pension scheme
- Full technical training programme and ongoing development
- Rare overnight stays only, with accommodation and meals fully expensed when required
- Clear opportunity to develop into a Technical Service Specialist
What We're Looking For
The right candidate will ideally bring experience from a service engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, automotive or industrial environment. You'll be comfortable working independently, managing your own schedule and communicating professionally with customers.
You'll also have:
- A full UK driving licence
- Good communication and relationship-building skills
- Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- A proactive and organised approach to problem solving
- The willingness to learn a specialist technical discipline through a structured training programme
Previous experience with metalworking fluids, lubricants or industrial chemicals would be advantageous but is not essential. Full training will be provided for candidates who can demonstrate the right attitude and transferable skills.
