Working Hours: 8:00am - 9:00pm
Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on innovative aerospace projects? This is an exciting opportunity to join Honeywell Aerospace, a global leader in avionics, aircraft systems, engines, and service solutions supporting commercial, military, and space aviation.
Based at Honeywell's Yeovil site, you'll be part of a highly skilled Engineering & Technology team working on market-leading products including Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Life Support Systems (LSS), and advanced control and data systems.
This role offers the chance to contribute to cutting-edge aerospace programmes while working within a collaborative engineering environment.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will support the development of concept and detailed designs for complex aerospace products. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, cost-effective solutions while ensuring designs are suitable for manufacture and meet project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop concept and detailed mechanical designs for aerospace products.
- Produce engineering drawings, drawing packs, and associated project documentation.
- Conduct and support tolerance analysis activities.
- Process engineering changes and design modifications.
- Work in accordance with established engineering procedures and design standards.
- Collaborate with Production Engineering and Production Planning teams to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture.
- Deliver work packages in line with project schedules and key milestones.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of best engineering practices.
About You
We're looking for a motivated and results-driven engineer with a passion for mechanical design and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experience using both 2D and 3D CAD software.
- Strong mechanical design engineering background.
- Understanding of design for manufacture principles.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Basic understanding of configuration control.
- Ability to work effectively within a multi-project environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years' design engineering experience, ideally involving precision components.
- Experience with Siemens NX CAD software.
- Knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes.
- Experience designing small, fine-tolerance components.
- Awareness of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Aerospace industry experience.
Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.
- Candidates with relevant industry experience, technical capability, and a strong motivation to succeed will also be considered.
