Summer Manufacturing Technician - Temporary (3-Month Contract) | Birmingham | £13.53 p/h | Immediate Start


The Assignment

We have an immediate requirement for a Summer Manufacturing Technician to join a leading organisation within the medical diagnostics and life sciences sector based in Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking valuable manufacturing experience over the summer period. Working within a busy Operations team, you'll support the production of innovative diagnostic products used globally while gaining exposure to a highly regulated manufacturing environment.

This is a fixed-term 3-month summer placement with no possibility of contract extension.


What the Work Involves

Working as part of a fast-paced manufacturing team, your duties will include:

  • Managing your own workload against a published production plan.
  • Ensuring materials and inventory are available and accurately transacted to complete assigned work.
  • Operating and supporting designated manufacturing equipment, processes, and work areas.
  • Completing production activities in accordance with quality, compliance, and safety standards.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Taking ownership of tasks and ensuring work is completed accurately and right first time.
  • Supporting additional operational activities as required.

Hours, Shifts & Pay

Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday, 07:00-15:30

Pay Rate: £13.53 per hour

Pay Frequency: Weekly

Holiday Pay: Accrued in line with agency regulations


What We Need From You

  • Minimum 1 year of experience within a manufacturing, production, operations, laboratory, or similar environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to learn new processes and follow instructions accurately.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently and within a fast-paced environment.
  • Good technical aptitude and confidence working with machinery or manufacturing equipment.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working in a cGMP-regulated environment.
  • Previous inventory management experience.
  • Exposure to workload planning or continuous improvement activities.
