Manpower are currently seeking an interim UK Tax Manager to work with our global FMCG client Reckitt, renowned for brands such as Dettol, Finish, Nurofen, and Air Wick, and to become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based in Stockley Park, Uxbridge. This a full-time temporary role to start as soon as possible and to run for 6 months(Possible extension), Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive.

The role currently offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is an integral part of the Special Projects Tax team in respect of an internal legal entity simplification project focused on the simplification and/or elimination of c. 100 entities in the UK and other jurisdictions.

This will include:

  • Working as part of a specialist team comprised of both internal departments and external advisers to:
    • Take ownership of the simplification and where possible, the elimination of a number of UK and overseas target companies.
    • Input into the design of the restructuring and simplification steps required.
    • Ensure all the tax implications of the proposed steps are understood, issues are identified, and solutions found.
    • Deliver on the project plan managed by the project management team on clearly defined deliverables.
  • Ensuring all post-implementation work is completed including ensuring all opinions, memos, rulings, elections, filings, etc. are prepared, reviewed and finalised on a timely basis.
  • Reporting into the International Tax Director and working with other members of the team, to keep them up to date with key issues/risks arising and agreeing potential solutions / discussions.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • UK corporate tax background ideally with experience in the following areas:
    • Large multi-national groups
    • Simplification of UK holding and financing companies
    • UK CGT computations including depreciatory transactions and value shifting
    • Restructurings involving s171 TCGA 1992, the SSE and reorganization provisions
    • UK tax compliance including UK group relief
  • Tax manager/senior manager level with c. 10 years PQE.
  • Tax practice trained including advising on the areas noted above and a period of in-house with "hands-on" UK tax compliance and legal entity simplification experience.
  • Accountancy qualification/experience preferred as the candidate will need to be comfortable with excel ETB's and working through with the Finance team the interaction of the simplification steps between multiple entities.
  • A team player with the ability to work within a team to solve problems as they arise.
  • Proactive self-starter and quick learner - able to keep director/other team members informed of progress/issues as appropriate.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise - must be able to manage time effectively in a challenging environment and be able to identify and focus on key issues.
